Triumph of the Lamb
With all the power being demonstrated through this vision, you might have expected a ‘super-beast’ to enter stage left! And yet we are zapped yet again by the humility of Jesus, represented here as the Lamb of God. So weak and helpless on the surface, yet so strong and powerful in practice. The words of Jesus during his time on Earth ring out (Matthew 23, 11 and 12)
“The greatest among you will be your servant. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
Use this picture to help meditate on these words:-
‘Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honour and glory and praise!’
And listen also to this song and visual presentation on YouTube:- Worthy is The Lamb.
There are a number of sermons on YouTube that help explain Revelation 5: try and make time to look at a couple of them. Don’t worry too much about all the symbols and hidden meanings. Be thankful for this taste of eternity!
Dear Lord, please help me to be more open to your promise of the Glory to come. Thank you for preparing a place for me. Thank you that you are both the Lion of Judah and the Lamb of God.
