Acts 20

Written by the lovely Emma

When did you last fall asleep when you shouldn’t have?

Acts 20

Firstly this chapter has taught me to not fall asleep against windows, especially if you’re 3 storeys up. I mean really… He fell out of a window three storeys up and he survived cor blimey.

Right… sorry distracted by a man falling out of a window!

You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” (NLT)

Jesus has some amazing things to say. Giving to others is the easiest and hardest thing to do. I mean think about Birthdays, Christmas and other times where give things to people. The majority of times we give something and we expect something in return. A great example of this is shopping, we want a bargain sooo bad we go crazy over getting value for money even at the expense of someone else. We are happy to hand over our money for a bargain than to hand over money with no reward. It’s really hard to get out of the mentality of just giving whether that be your free time or money from your pocket. It can be so rewarding to give up two hours of TV to help your Mum or Dad tidy the kitchen or make them dinner.

So… what should we take away from this? Can you spare a bit of time, maybe you could make dinner or bake a cake for your family, help someone wash their car, hoover the lounge or even give some money to charity. There are lots of ways you can give so why not give it a try.

Lord God, help me to give generously of all that I am and have today. Amen.

What can you do to give something today?
